"From what age should I send my child to wrestling class?" If we had to pick one question as the most frequent one parents ask, this is it without a doubt. Two worries usually hide behind it: what if it is too early and my child's growing body gets hurt, or what if it is too late and they fall behind their peers for good.
The good news is that the answer is more reassuring than you might expect: there is no "magic number" for the age to start wrestling. What really matters is that the content of training matches the child's stage of development. A child who walks into the gym at a young age should run, roll, play and get to know their body, not be put under the pressure of specialised training. A teenager who starts later can, with the right programme, travel their own path in full quality.
In this article, based on our experience at MHP CLUB, the specialist wrestling academy in Amol, Mazandaran, we separate the age groups, review the signs that a child is ready, and answer the important question of families who acted late: what if my child only became interested as a teenager?
